In college, Cherry was called Grandma because whenever her friends came to her place, they always knew they could get a home-cooked meal and a great dessert.
It started with her famous cherry cheesecake, which had to be accompanied by a meal. Then, she would do the work. She started selling her cheesecakes in the Florida State Senate, where she worked as a Legislative Aide. Before the week ended, she was getting calls from the Capital and the House. Every night that she went home, she had to bake. Cherry would bake all night so that she would have fresh cheesecakes for the new day. One day, Cherry thought to herself that she needed a name for her business, so she called it Cherry's Cheesecakes.
Cherry moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1992 and started baking again. Her client list grew quickly, consisting mostly of NFL players. It was at this time that she decided that she needed a new name for her business. Since she was doing more than cheesecakes she changed the name to Cherry's Cheesecakes & Delights, "Delectable Treats of the South". She did full-course meals and a variety of desserts.
Cherry's Cheesecakes & Delights have been served in the famous Shark Bar Restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, Wineries in Northern Virginia and Napa Valley, Breweries in Northern Virginia, Country Clubs in Jacksonville, Florida, Macy's Departments Stores in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Dillards Departments stores, The Florida Black Caucus, Parks & Crump Law Firm of Tallahassee, Florida, A former Governor of Alabama, The Super Bowl Host Committee of Jacksonville Florida 2005, The Super Bowl XXXIX Coors VIP's, The NFL Atlanta Falcons,The City of Jacksonville, The City of Atlanta, and many NFL clients. The business was also open in Trinidad and Tobago. My cheesecakes were sold in a grocery chain in Trinidad and a Country Club in Tobago. I had many international clients as Ambassadors and diplomats.
